What we do

Services

Diagnosis first, then the repair. We tell you what is wrong, what it will cost, and what can wait, before anything is opened up.

Finding the fault

On-board diagnostics

Check engine light on? We read the fault codes off the car’s own computer and trace them to the actual cause, so you are not paying to replace parts on a guess.

  • Fault code reading and live data
  • Tracing a code to its cause
  • Findings explained before any work starts

Troubleshooting

For the faults a code reader will not name: an intermittent misfire, a noise that only happens warm, a leak nobody can find. We chase it until we know.

  • Intermittent and hard-to-repeat faults
  • Noises, leaks and smells
  • Second opinion on a diagnosis

Engine and transmission

Engine rebuild

From a rough idle to a full strip and rebuild. Heads off, timing, gaskets and seals, then back together and run in.

  • Cylinder head and valve train
  • Timing chain and belt work
  • Full overhaul and reassembly

Machining

Machine work on engine parts as part of a rebuild: surfaces skimmed true and components brought back to size instead of being replaced.

  • Cylinder head skimming
  • Resurfacing and reboring
  • Done in-house, so no waiting on a third party

Transmission and gearbox

Slipping, jerking or refusing a gear. We drop the box, find out whether it needs a service or a rebuild, and tell you which before starting.

  • Automatic and manual
  • Clutch and torque converter
  • Fluid service, repair or rebuild

Running gear and electrics

General mechanical

The everyday work that keeps a car on the road: brakes, clutch, cooling, belts, and the noises that turn up over a speed bump.

  • Brakes and clutch
  • Cooling and overheating
  • Belts, hoses and mountings

Under chassis

Everything underneath: suspension, steering, bushings, mountings and exhaust. The parts that decide whether the car holds the road and stops straight.

  • Suspension and steering
  • Bushings and mountings
  • Underbody inspection

Tyres and alignment

Fitting, balancing and wheel alignment. Worth doing after suspension work, and worth checking if the car pulls to one side or eats its front tyres.

  • Tyre fitting and balancing
  • Wheel alignment
  • Checked after suspension work

Auto electrical

Batteries, alternators, starters, lighting and wiring faults, including the intermittent ones that only misbehave when it rains.

  • Charging and starting system
  • Wiring fault tracing
  • Lighting and accessories

Servicing

Preventive maintenance (PMS)

The scheduled service that stops small things becoming expensive ones. Oil, filters, fluids, belts, and a look over everything else while the car is up.

  • Oil and filter change
  • Fluids, belts and hoses
  • Full check over, and the reminder reset

Aircon service

Cleaning, recharging and leak repair. In this climate a working aircon is not a luxury item, and a weak one is usually a leak rather than a top-up.

  • Cleaning and recharging
  • Leak detection and repair
  • Compressor and blower faults

Metal and paint

Welding and fabrication

Metal repair where a part cannot simply be bolted back on: brackets, mountings, exhausts and rusted-through sections made good.

  • Brackets and mountings
  • Exhaust repair
  • Rust and structural sections

Painting

Refinishing and respray, matched to the car’s existing colour.

  • Colour matching
  • Panel and full respray
  • Finishing after repair

Around the job

Parts

We source the parts as well as fit them, and they go on the quote itemised, so you can see what each one costs before we order it.

  • Sourced and fitted
  • Itemised on the quote
  • Options explained where there are any

Towing and pickup

If the car will not start, or is not safe to drive, ring us and we will arrange to collect it rather than have you risk the trip.

  • Collection when the car will not run
  • Ring us before you drive it
  • Arranged with the repair

Fleet and company accounts

Several vehicles on one account. Each one keeps its own service history, so you can see what was done to which van and when, on a single bill.

  • One account, every vehicle tracked
  • Service history per plate
  • Billed together

Not sure which one you need?

That is what the diagnosis is for. Describe what the car is doing and we will work it out before anything is opened up.
